Cosmetology Instructors Network Online Testing Procedures
Coming January 2026
As of January 1, 2025, The Cosmetology Instructors Network is working on adopting an online format. We are hoping to start in January 2026 with examinations being offered online once per month. The exam will be proctored via artificial intelligence (AI) and can be taken in the comfort of your own home.
We are very excited to offer this to all The Cosmetology Instructors Network members and non-members. Please see the requirements below: (Subject to Change)
- If you have dual monitors on your computer, you will need to turn off or unplug the second monitor.
- Please follow ALL prompts that the software gives.
- You must allow the software to access your computers, camera, and microphone.
- When accessing the exam, you will need to allow the software to take a photo of you and your photo ID for verification purposes.
- This exam is a closed-book exam. You are not permitted to use notes, books, or any technological devices.
- The software tracks your head and eye movements during the exam.
- Once you start the exam, you cannot leave the room or have anyone enter the room with you.
- You will not be able to navigate away from your exam window if you attempt this more than once; you will automatically fail the exam.
